Students coming from non-EU coutries have to apply for a D5 student visa at the Hungarian Embassy in their home country. With a valid student visa they can apply for a residence permit also from the embassy or when they arrive in Budapest. The student visa may take up to 60 days to obtain. Find detailed information at the SZIU hompage under Welcome Information.

Sholarship holders (Stipendium Hungaricum, Scholarship for Christian Young People) can be accommodated in one of the dormitories of the Szent István University. The accommodation fee will be covered by the scholarship through the university. For the dormitory placement please apply at your international coordinator.

If you choose to have an accommodation self-organized, not in one of the SZIU dormitories, let your international coordinator know about your decision. SH and SCYP scholarship holders who rent a flat or room other than the dormitory, receive 40 000HUF/month accommodation  contribution. Please note that due to the huge over-demand, the dorm maintains its rooms only for students, so if you arrive with your family, you have to find an accommodation on your own. We kindly ask for your understanding.

For Self-finenced and Erasmus exchange students we regretfully cannot offer a dormitory placement. Please check the site at Accomodation - Information for SZIU Students.
